How It Works ⚙️

When you select fan speed, power is sent to the motor (often through a resistor or control module). The motor spins a squirrel-cage fan, pulling air from the intake and forcing it through the vents. A healthy unit runs smooth, quiet, and delivers consistent airflow at every speed.

Signs It’s Failing & What Happens If Broken ❗

• Weak or no airflow even with the fan on
• Fan works only on certain speeds
• Squealing, rubbing, or vibration noise from the dash
• Burning smell or repeated fuse issues

If the motor fails completely, you can lose defrost ability, making driving unsafe in rain or cold. Overheating windings may stress wiring, resistors, and connectors, turning a simple repair into a bigger HVAC electrical job.
