SRS impact sensor return spring – OEM-grade safety component ️

Why this part is needed

This precision spring keeps the airbag impact sensor set at the correct neutral preload. With stable return force, the sensor reads deceleration accurately, avoiding false triggers and ensuring the airbag deploys at the right time. It’s essential for reliable crash detection and compliance with factory SRS specs.

How it works

The spring centers the sensing mass and maintains a calibrated threshold. During a hit, the mass moves, the sensor signals the SRS unit, then the spring quickly returns everything to zero. Heat-treated steel and anti-corrosion finish help the spring hold rate over millions of cycles and wide temperatures.

What happens if it’s broken

Symptoms include SRS light on, stored DTCs, rattling in the sensor, or delayed/no deployment in a severe crash. A weak or cracked spring can cause false alarms or, worse, prevent timely airbag activation. Replace at once if damaged, corroded, or deformed.

Tech notes

Disconnect battery and wait 10–15 minutes. Install in a clean housing, align tabs, and torque per service data. Do not bend or reuse a fatigued spring. After fitting, perform an SRS scan, clear codes, and run calibration if required.
