Steering Clock Spring with Angle Sensor

Why this part is needed

This spiral cable keeps power and signals flowing between the steering wheel and the car while you turn. It feeds the airbag, horn, radio buttons, cruise control, and sends steering angle data to ABS/VSC/ESC systems. Without it, safety and comfort features cannot work correctly.

How it works

Inside the housing is a flat ribbon cable wound like a spring. When you turn the wheel, the ribbon winds and unwinds without breaking the electrical path. An integrated angle sensor tracks wheel position and rotation speed, then reports to the ECU over the network. This helps stability control, electric power steering, and lane systems keep you in control.

What happens if it is broken ⚠️

Airbag light stays on, horn and wheel buttons stop, and VSC/ABS lamps may appear. You may feel reduced or erratic steering assist, poor traction control, or turn signal cancel failure. Often there is a clicking noise or intermittent functions when turning. Driving is possible, but safety is at risk—replace soon.

Tech tips

Disconnect the battery and wait before service. Center the clock spring and lock it until the wheel is installed. After fitting, calibrate the angle sensor with a scan tool for straight tracking and no warning lights.
