Why this part is needed

How it works

Hot coolant enters the upper tank, flows through thin tubes and densely packed fins, and leaves cooler at the bottom. Vehicle airflow and the fan extract heat; the pressure cap raises the boiling point, and many versions include an internal ATF cooler for automatics.
