    Diesel Coolant Temperature Sensor for Toyota Engines ️

    Why this part is needed

    This tiny probe tells the ECU the exact coolant temperature. With that data, the engine sets fuel mix, glow plug time, idle speed, fan control, and dash gauge. It keeps cold starts smooth , stops hot running , and protects the head gasket. If you tow, idle long, or drive in extreme climates, a precise temp signal is vital for reliability and economy.

    How it works

    Inside is a NTC thermistor. As coolant warms, electrical resistance drops. The ECU reads the voltage change and calculates temperature. It then adjusts injection timing, enriches when cold, trims when warm, and commands radiator fans. The sensor tip sits in coolant flow for fast, accurate response. Simple, solid, and built to last.

    What happens if it fails

    Cold start hard, rough idle, black smoke, high fuel use, lazy throttle, late fan activation, or overheating warning . The gauge may lie, glow plugs may run too long or not enough, and limp mode can appear. Ignoring it risks warped head, cracked radiator, or EGR fouling.

    Fitment & notes

    Direct-fit for many Toyota diesel models (OEM ref 89422-20010). Replace at signs of erratic readings or after coolant contamination. Use thread seal as specified, torque correctly, and bleed air. A healthy sensor restores power, economy, and peace of mind ✅.
