Rear Pinion Companion Flange – Driveshaft to Differential Coupler ⚙️

Why this part is needed 🔧

This flange securely links the propshaft to the rear differential pinion. It transfers engine torque to the axle, keeps the joint centered, and holds correct preload on the pinion seal and bearings. Without it, the driveline cannot deliver smooth, quiet power.

How it works 🚗

The splined bore slides onto the pinion shaft and is locked by a high-torque nut. Its machined face mates to the driveshaft yoke or flex joint, maintaining alignment. The pilot registers the shaft, while balanced steel construction controls vibration (NVH) at highway speed.

What happens if it’s broken ❗

Worn splines or a cracked face cause clunks, shudder, and oil leaks. You may notice vibration on acceleration, humming at speed, or diff seal seepage. In severe cases the shaft can slip, damaging bearings and gears—risking loss of drive. Replace promptly to protect the differential.
