Cabin A/C Evaporator Core ❄️
Why this part is needed
This HVAC heat-exchanger cools and dehumidifies air before it reaches your vents. A healthy evaporator core delivers crisp, dry airflow in summer, prevents windshield fogging, and keeps the cabin comfortable on long drives ?️. It’s essential for efficient air conditioning, low compressor load, and fuel-saving performance.
How it works
Low-pressure refrigerant enters the core via the expansion valve/orifice, instantly boiling inside the aluminum tubes. As the blower pushes cabin air across densely packed fins, heat and moisture are removed; water drains through the A/C drain ?. The design maximizes surface area for fast heat transfer, works with R134a/R1234yf systems, and relies on tight seals and correct refrigerant charge for peak cooling.
What happens if it’s broken
Leaks cause weak or no cooling, oily residue under the dash, sweet/chemical odors, and mist from vents. Corrosion or clogging leads to hissing, frosting, high pressures, and compressor overwork ⚠️. Left unchecked, moisture and debris can contaminate the system and shorten compressor life. Replace the core, renew O-rings, evacuate, and recharge for reliable, ice-cold air ?️.
