Fuel Door Opening Actuator Assembly for Infiniti/Nissan

This small electric unit controls the release of the fuel filler door from inside the car. It is needed because modern vehicles use a locked fuel flap to prevent fuel theft and to keep the door firmly closed at speed and in bad weather ️.

How it works

When you press the fuel door button or use the release command, the actuator receives power and moves a tiny motor/solenoid mechanism. That motion pulls or pushes the latch pin, unlocking the fuel flap so you can open it safely. Once closed, the latch returns to hold the door tight and reduce rattles.

Signs the actuator is failing

  • Fuel door won’t pop open, even though you hear a click
  • No sound at all when releasing
  • Fuel flap stays loose or won’t stay closed
  • Intermittent operation, especially in cold weather ❄️

What happens if it’s broken

A failed actuator can leave you unable to refuel, or force you to pry the flap open and risk paint damage. If it sticks in the open position, the door may flap, leak water/dirt into the filler area, and weaken the latch over time.
