Hood Lift Support Strut

Direct-fit hood strut / bonnet support gas spring that restores confident, one-hand opening and stable holding at full height. Built to OEM force and stroke for the Infiniti performance crossover platform, it brings back factory feel and safety during service.

Why you need it ️

Old units lose pressure over time. The bonnet gets heavy, shakes in wind, or creeps down. A fresh stay keeps the hood up, protects fingers and paint, and prevents hinge and latch stress.

How it works ⚙️

Inside the steel cylinder is nitrogen gas with light oil. As the piston rod moves through precision seals, gas pressure creates lift and damping. Valving slows motion at the end of travel, so opening is smooth and closing is controlled—no bounce, no slam.

When it fails ⚠️

Common signs: hood drops in cold weather, uneven lift, oily film on the rod, or a faint hiss. If ignored, the hood can fall suddenly, risking injury and bending hinges, cowl, or grille.

Replacement tips

Support the hood, release the retaining clips with a flat blade, and swap one side at a time with the rod facing down. Do not grease the rod—keep it clean. Replace in pairs for balance and restore full holding force.
