Clutch Disc Assembly for Toyota Manual Transmission

This clutch disc assembly sits between the flywheel and pressure plate and is a key wear item in any manual drivetrain. It is needed to smoothly connect and disconnect engine power from the gearbox, so you can start moving, change gears, and stop without stalling.

How It Works ⚙️

When you release the clutch pedal, the pressure plate clamps the friction lining of the disc against the flywheel. The disc then turns with the engine and transfers torque through its splined hub to the transmission input shaft. When you press the pedal, clamping force is released, allowing a clean gear shift and reducing shock to the driveline.

Signs of a Worn or Broken Disc

If the disc is worn, overheated, or the springs/hub are damaged, you may notice clutch slip, burning smell, shudder on take-off, hard shifting, or poor acceleration under load. Left unattended, it can damage the flywheel and pressure plate, increase fuel use, and eventually leave the vehicle unable to move.
