Valve Cover Seal – Keep Your Engine Dry and Clean

This precision cam/valve cover gasket locks in engine oil at the top of the cylinder head. It keeps the lube where it belongs, protects ignition parts from oil, and prevents fumes from escaping. A fresh seal means a tidy engine bay, steady idle, and longer life for coils, plugs, and hoses.

Why you need it ✅

Over time heat cycles harden old rubber. The result is seeping edges, dripping corners, and oily spark plug wells. Replacing the seal restores factory-tight compression around the cover and PCV passages, stopping leaks and odors.

How it works ⚙️

A molded elastomer ring seats between the cover and head. When bolts are tightened evenly, the gasket compresses, creating a uniform barrier around oil galleries and the timing joint. Quality compound resists heat, oil, and blow-by, maintaining elasticity through thousands of cycles.

What happens if it’s broken

Expect oil smell, smoke on warm-up, damp edges, rising oil use, and misfires from oil in plug tubes. Leaks can soften belts and attract dust, and in severe cases drip onto the exhaust—never ignore it.

Install tips

Clean mating faces, add a tiny RTV dab only at timing cover joints, torque in a crisscross pattern, and replace tube seals/grommets. Check PCV to prevent future pressure build-up.
