This precision lower thrust washer is a small but critical engine part that controls crankshaft end play (front-to-back movement). It is needed to keep the crankshaft centered inside the engine block while the clutch, torque converter, and accessory loads push and pull on it during driving.

How It Works

The washer sits at the thrust bearing area and provides a smooth, low-friction surface. A thin oil film rides between the washer and crankshaft thrust face, reducing metal-to-metal contact. This helps maintain correct clearances for the main bearings and keeps engine rotation stable at idle and high RPM.

What Happens If It’s Worn or Broken

When the thrust surface wears, crankshaft movement increases. You may notice clutch/transmission engagement issues, rough idle, crank sensor errors, or abnormal knocking.
