Rear Trunk Latch & Actuator Assembly

Why you need it

With age, the motor/solenoid gets weak, springs lose tension, and the microswitch can corrode. Then the trunk may bounce back, not latch, or refuse to open. Replacing the unit brings back clean locking, proper sensor feedback, and reliable remote function.

How it works

The striker meets the latch claw. An electric actuator pulls the pawl to release. A position switch reports “closed” to the body ECU, turning off the trunk light and syncing with central locking. Manual key and emergency cable remain functional.

If it’s broken ⚠️

Signs include having to slam the lid, clicking with no release, intermittent opening, or staying stuck. Water and dust can enter, the trunk light may drain the battery, and theft risk rises. Ignoring it can damage the striker and hinges.

Install notes

Bolt-on swap. Transfer rubber bump stops if needed. Center latch to striker and tighten. Plug the connector and test remote and key.
