Engine Exhaust Valve for compact Hyundai/Kia powertrains ?
Why you need it
This valve seals the combustion chamber on the exhaust stroke, holding compression, controlling heat, and guiding hot gases into the manifold. A healthy valve preserves power, fuel economy, and emissions while protecting the catalytic converter.
How it works
Made from heat-resistant alloy, the tulip-shaped head closes against the seat as the cam opens/closes it via lifter and spring. The slim stem runs in a guide, transferring heat to the head. Correct face angles and margin ensure a tight seal, stable idle, and smooth scavenging ?.
What happens if it fails
Burnt, bent, or recessed valves cause low compression, rough idle, misfire, backfire, hard starts, and power loss. Prolonged use risks piston/cylinder damage, overheated catalyst, and high fuel use ⚠️. When replacing, inspect seat, lap or cut as needed, check stem-to-guide clearance, renew stem seal, verify spring height, and set lash or lifter preload ?.
