Why your engine needs it

This MAF meter keeps your engine’s air‑fuel mix exact, so you get smooth idle, strong acceleration, clean emissions, and better mpg. It lets the ECU know exactly how much air enters the intake, essential for modern fuel injection and long engine life.

How it works

Inside is a hot‑film element that cools as air passes. The control circuit holds its temperature and converts airflow to a precise voltage signal. The ECU uses that signal with O2 feedback to set injector pulse, adapt fuel trims, and compensate for altitude, temperature, and load .

What happens if it’s failing

Expect hard starts, rough idle, flat spots, weak power, high fuel use, dark exhaust, or a Check Engine light (typical codes P0100–P0104). A misreading sensor can trigger limp mode, clog the catalyst, and foul plugs if ignored.

Technician notes

Install downstream of the air filter with the arrow facing airflow. Check for intake leaks, use MAF‑safe cleaner only, and never touch the element. Reset trims after replacement for quick adaptation ⛽.
