Why this part is needed

This pump feeds fresh air into the exhaust during cold start. The extra oxygen helps burn unburned fuel fast, lowering emissions and protecting the catalytic converters. It supports smooth warm‑up, stable idle, and helps your Toyota pass inspection.

How it works

On cold start, the ECU energizes the electric motor via a relay. The impeller draws clean air and sends it through hoses and a check valve into the exhaust manifold/catalyst. This short duty cycle (usually under 90 seconds) speeds oxidation of HC and CO until the engine reaches temperature. The assembly includes a sealed motor, turbine, and sound damper for reliable flow and quiet operation.

What happens if it’s broken
