Engine Oil Pump Assembly ️

This oil pump is the heart of the engine lubrication system. Its job is to pull oil from the sump, build steady pressure, and send oil through galleries to bearings, camshafts, timing components, and the valve train. Without correct oil flow, metal parts touch metal in seconds.

A healthy pump keeps the right oil pressure at idle and under load, especially when the engine is hot. It helps reduce friction, carries heat away, and supports long engine life.

How it works ⚙️

Driven by the engine, internal gears/rotors create suction at the inlet and pressure at the outlet. A built-in relief valve controls maximum pressure so seals and filters are not overloaded, keeping lubrication stable across RPM changes.

What happens if it’s worn or broken

Low oil pressure, ticking/knocking noises, warning light, overheating oil, and rapid bearing damage can follow. If the pump seizes or loses prime, the engine may suffer catastrophic failure. Replace at the first signs of pressure drop or debris wear.
