Power Steering Rack Seal Kit ?

This seal and gasket kit is used during repair of the hydraulic steering rack. It helps restore tight sealing inside the rack housing, keeping power steering fluid where it must be. A good sealing set is needed to maintain smooth steering, correct pressure, and safe control of the vehicle.

Why This Part Is Needed

Inside the rack and pinion unit, fluid pressure assists the driver when turning the wheel. The rubber seals, O-rings, and gaskets prevent leaks between chambers and around moving shafts. With age, heat, dirt, and old fluid, these parts become hard, flat, or cracked. Replacing them during rack service helps avoid repeat leaks and poor steering feel.

How It Works ⚙️

When the steering wheel is turned, the pump sends pressurized fluid to one side of the rack piston. The seals hold this pressure so the rack moves left or right with less effort. The gasket set also blocks outside dust and moisture, protecting the internal metal surfaces from wear and corrosion.

Signs of Failure

If the seals are damaged, fluid may leak from the rack boots, pinion area, or housing joints. Steering can become heavy, noisy, jerky, or uneven. Low fluid level may damage the pump, and in severe cases the vehicle may lose power assist, making parking and low-speed driving unsafe.
