Rear Independent Suspension Mounting Bolt

This fastener is a critical piece in the rear independent suspension assembly. It is needed to clamp suspension arms and brackets tightly to the chassis/knuckle, keeping alignment stable and the ride safe. A correct-fit bolt maintains the designed torque load and prevents unwanted movement when the vehicle hits bumps, brakes hard, or corners.

How It Works ⚙️

The bolt passes through suspension bushings or sleeves and locks parts together under a specified tightening torque. That clamping force controls bushing flex, reduces vibration, and keeps camber/toe angles consistent. With proper torque, it resists stretching and loosening, even under repeated road shock.

If It’s Worn or Broken

A damaged or incorrect bolt can cause knocking noises, rear-end sway, uneven tire wear, and poor handling. In severe cases it may allow the joint to shift, stressing bushings and brackets, and can lead to loss of suspension stability. Always replace with the proper grade and re-torque to spec after installation.

Best Practice Tips ✅

  • Use correct torque and tighten at normal ride height when required.
  • Inspect threads, washers, and mating holes for elongation or rust.
  • Recheck torque after initial driving if the service manual recommends.
