Why you need it
The belt spins the alternator to recharge the battery , drives the water pump to control engine temperature ❄️, and may turn power steering and A/C. Without a healthy belt, your vehicle cannot maintain power or safe operating temps.
How it works
Driven by the crankshaft pulley, the ribbed belt transfers torque to accessory pulleys. Correct rib profile and tension prevent slip and squeal. For best results, run it with a good tensioner and properly aligned pulleys.
What happens if it fails
Warning signs: cold‑start squeal, glazing, cracks, frayed edges, rubber smell, flickering charge light. If it snaps, you lose charging, the engine can overheat fast, and steering may go heavy—stop the engine to prevent damage. Replace at the first wear signs.
