Oil Filler Neck Seal for Mercedes-Benz engines ?️
This precision seal sits between the oil filler neck and the cam/valve cover, keeping engine oil where it belongs. Built from heat- and oil‑resistant elastomer, it prevents misting and splashing during warm‑ups and high‑RPM driving. Perfect fit for modern Mercedes turbo and Kompressor petrol ranges. OE reference: A271 016 07 21.
Why you need it ?️
A tight seal stops oil vapors leaking, keeps dirt out of the valvetrain, and protects coils, belts, and hoses from oil contamination. It also helps maintain correct crankcase ventilation and a clean engine bay.
How it works ⚙️
The gasket compresses between the filler tube flange and the cover. Under clamp/cap pressure, its lip profile conforms to micro‑irregularities, creating a long‑lasting, vibration‑proof seal through heat cycles.
When it fails ⚠️
Expect oily smell, damp valve cover around the neck, dust sticking to fresh oil, minor drips, and gradual oil level loss. Left unchecked, oil can soften hoses, attract debris, and cause mess around ignition components.
Fitment & install tips ?
Replace at first signs of seepage or during cover/filler service. Clean mating surfaces, seat the ring squarely, apply a thin oil film (no RTV), and tighten to spec. Verify breather lines are clear for best results.
