    This hood lock latch assembly keeps the bonnet safely closed while you drive. It is a small part, but it carries a big job: holding the hood against wind lift, vibration, and body twist. A correct latch gives you solid closing feel and stable panel gaps.

    Why this part is needed ✅

    The hood must stay locked at speed and during braking. This latch works with the striker and release cable to secure the hood, then allows smooth opening when you pull the interior handle.

    How it works ⚙️

    When you lower the hood, the striker slides into the latch jaws. A spring-loaded pawl snaps into place and holds it tight. Pulling the release cable rotates the mechanism to unlock, and the safety catch prevents the hood from popping fully open by accident.

    What happens if it’s worn or broken ?

    A failing latch may cause hard closing, hood rattle, misalignment, or a hood that won’t open/lock. In worst cases, the hood can lift unexpectedly while driving, blocking visibility and damaging hinges, fenders, and paint.
