Informations

Steering Rack End Assembly (Inner Tie Rod)

This precision inner joint links your rack-and-pinion to the outer tie rod, turning steering wheel input into crisp wheel angle. It keeps toe stable, protects tires, and delivers straight-line confidence. Built to OEM-grade tolerances, it restores factory feel and quiet operation.

Why you need it ✅

Over time, the ball-and-socket wears, grease dries, and play develops. Fresh hardware brings back tight steering, safer lane changes, and consistent alignment—especially important on heavier sedans and spirited RWD platforms.

How it works ️

A hardened inner ball stud pivots inside a sealed cup, allowing smooth articulation while the rack moves. The threaded shank sets toe, and the dust boot keeps contaminants out. Proper preload removes slack without adding friction.

When worn or broken ⚠️

Symptoms include steering wander, clunks over bumps, shimmy at speed, off-center wheel, and uneven tire wear. Severe failure can cause sudden loss of directional control and rapid tire scrub.

Build details & fit notes

Forged housing, treated ball stud, low-friction liner, OE thread pitch, and boot groove for a perfect seal. Always replace in pairs when possible, torque to spec, and perform a full alignment after installation.
