    Exhaust Valve Guide (Cylinder Head Component)

    This small sleeve pressed into the cylinder head keeps the exhaust valve moving straight and sealed during every engine cycle. It is needed because exhaust valves run extremely hot; without a tight, smooth guide, the valve stem can wobble, wear fast, and lose correct seating on the valve seat.

    How it works ⚙️

    The valve stem slides inside the guide with a controlled clearance. This supports the valve head as it opens/closes, helps transfer heat from the valve into the cylinder head, and works with the valve stem seal to control oil flow. A good guide keeps compression stable and protects the catalytic converter from oil burning.

    If the guide is worn or damaged ❗

    Common results are blue smoke on acceleration, high oil consumption, rough idle, loss of power, valve burning, ticking noises, and failed emissions tests. In severe cases the valve may not seat, causing low compression and misfire, and the turbo/cat can be harmed by excess oil and heat.
