Rear Wheel Brake Cylinder — Reliable Stopping Power

This OE-style rear wheel brake cylinder restores proper hydraulic force to the drum brakes. It keeps rear braking balanced, pedal feel firm, and stopping distances short. Perfect when your brakes feel soft, shoes wear unevenly, or there’s fluid mist inside the drum ️.

Why you need it

With time, seals harden and the bore can corrode. That leads to fluid leaks, air entry, and weak piston movement. Replacing the unit brings back safe, straight-line braking and proper parking brake performance.

How it works

Pressing the pedal sends fluid pressure into the cylinder. Two opposing pistons push the brake shoes outward against the drum, converting hydraulic pressure into friction. Dust boots keep debris out, rubber cups seal the fluid, and the bleeder lets you purge air for a solid pedal.

If it fails ⚠️

Look for wet backing plates, low fluid, spongy pedal, pulling to one side, or longer stops. Severe cases cause seized pistons, overheated drums, or sudden loss of rear braking.

Install tips ✅

Replace in axle pairs, bleed the system thoroughly, and use fresh DOT 3/4 fluid as specified. Inspect drums, shoes, and springs; renew contaminated linings. Tighten line fittings to spec and avoid twisting hoses.
