Hydraulic Suspension Pump & Motor Unit for Toyota AHC

This assembly is the heart of Toyota’s Active Height Control (AHC) system. It creates the hydraulic pressure that raises, lowers, and levels the vehicle, keeping ride height correct, comfort high, and handling stable on- and off-road. Without it, the suspension cannot change height or hold a load properly.

- Maintains correct ride height under cargo and towing

How it works ⚙️

A 12V electric motor drives a hydraulic pump that draws AHC fluid through a strainer, pressurizes it, and feeds an accumulator. The suspension ECU, using height sensors, commands solenoid valves to send fluid to each strut for lift or return. Check valves, a relief valve, and a pressure sensor protect the system and keep response consistent.

What happens if it fails ⚠️

- Height won’t change or reacts very slowly
- AHC light blinks or “OFF” stays on
- Vehicle sags, tilts, or rides harsh (empty accumulator)
- Loud pump, burnt motor smell, blown fuse, or fluid leaks

Tech tips

- Use only Toyota AHC fluid (do not use ATF)
- Fix leaks before replacement and bleed the system after
- Check relay, wiring, grounds; never run pump dry
- Prime with fresh fluid and keep the reservoir screen clean
