Why you need it

This assembly keeps crankshaft and camshafts perfectly synchronized. Correct valve timing delivers smooth idle, strong torque, clean emissions, and good fuel economy. With age, high mileage, or dirty oil, the chain can stretch and the guides wear. Replacing as a set restores quiet, precise timing and prevents costly engine damage.

How it works ⏱️

A heat-treated steel chain runs over the crank and cam sprockets, guided by low-friction rails and held tight by an oil-fed hydraulic tensioner. Constant oil lubrication reduces wear, while fixed-pitch links keep cam timing accurate so combustion occurs at the right moment on every cylinder.

When damaged or worn ⚠️

Common signs: cold-start rattle, timing correlation codes (P0016–P0019),rough idle, sluggish power, poor economy, metal glitter in oil. If the chain jumps a tooth, misfires and stalling appear. If it skips further or fails, valves may hit pistons—bent valves, cracked guides, and a major rebuild. Don’t ignore noise.

Tech tips ️

Install chain, guides, tensioner, and seals together. Align timing marks, prime the tensioner with clean oil, and change oil/filter after service. Use OE-grade sealant and correct torque.
