How it works ️

When it’s worn or broken ⚠️
Expect gear whine on throttle or decel, vibration, metal shavings in oil, hot diff housing, and oil leak at the pinion seal. Left unchecked, the ring gear chips, the seal fails, and the differential can seize—risking driveshaft damage.
Tech tips
Always set correct pinion preload (new crush sleeve or shims), verify backlash, use fresh GL-5 oil, and torque the nut to spec. Spin-test for smoothness before final seal install.
