Drivetrain Oil Seal for Hyundai/Kia SUVs and Crossovers

This precision oil seal protects the powertrain by keeping ATF/gear oil inside the transmission/transfer/differential and blocking dust and water from the outside. It’s essential anywhere a rotating shaft exits a housing. Without a tight seal, fluid drops, lubrication fails, and expensive bearings and gears run dry.

How it works

A spring-loaded elastomer lip hugs the shaft while a rigid case press-fits into the bore. The garter spring maintains constant tension as parts heat and cool. A secondary dust lip helps keep grit out. The compound is oil- and heat-resistant, designed for highway RPM and off‑road temperature swings.

When worn or broken ⚠️

• Oil mist or drips near axle/output flange
• Low fluid level, gear whine, or harsh shifts
• Vibration or shudder as fluid thins
• Overheating and possible 4WD/AWD malfunction

Pro install tips

Inspect the shaft for grooves; polish if needed. Lightly oil the lip, drive the seal square and flush—never over-seat. Verify breather operation so pressure doesn’t push oil past the lip. After fitting shafts, refill with the correct ATF/gear oil and check for seepage after a short road test.
