Why This Part Is Needed 🚙

The engine drives the pump by belt. Inside the unit, small vanes rotate and create hydraulic pressure. This pressure moves power steering fluid through the hoses to assist steering movement. A good pump keeps the steering wheel light, stable, and predictable in all driving conditions.

How It Works ⚙️

When the engine runs, the pulley turns the internal rotor. The vanes slide out, pull fluid from the reservoir, compress it, and send it under pressure to the steering system. The pressure valve helps control flow, so the steering does not feel too hard or too sharp.

Signs of a Faulty Pump ⚠️

If this pump wears out, you may hear whining noise, feel heavy steering, notice fluid leaks, or see foamy oil in the reservoir. A broken pump can damage hoses, steering gear seals, and make the vehicle unsafe to control, especially at low speed.
