Why this part is needed

The pan forms the lower reservoir of the automatic transmission. It holds the ATF volume, provides a flat sealing surface for the gasket, and integrates the drain plug and magnets that catch metal particles. Without a healthy pan, the system can’t maintain correct fluid level or cleanliness.

While the engine runs, the pump draws ATF from the pan through the pickup and filter. The pan’s shape controls slosh, helps cooling, and keeps the pickup submerged on grades. The gasket and fasteners maintain a leak-free seal under heat cycles and vibration.
