Automatic Transmission Oil Pan Sub-Assembly ️

This component is the lower housing section of the automatic gearbox that holds and protects the transmission fluid. It is needed to keep the oil level stable, seal the transmission from dust and water, and provide a safe area for fluid return and cooling. A straight, well-sealed pan helps the transmission run smooth and shift correctly.

How It Works ⚙️

The pan bolts to the transmission case and seals with a gasket. Inside, fluid drains back into the pan, where it can settle before being picked up again by the pump. The pan also supports proper filtration service access and helps reduce aeration so the hydraulic circuits keep correct pressure.

What Happens If It’s Damaged ❗

If bent, cracked, or corroded, it may leak fluid, causing low oil level, delayed shifts, slipping, overheating, and internal clutch wear. In severe cases, the transmission can lose pressure and fail, leaving the vehicle unable to move.
