Engine Vacuum Pump Replacement

This unit supplies steady vacuum for the brake booster and control systems in Toyota diesel and select petrol engines. How it works

Driven by the camshaft or timing gear, an oil‑lubricated rotor with sliding vanes sweeps air out to create negative pressure. Vacuum is routed to the booster and reservoirs, while an internal check valve holds vacuum after shutdown. At idle, it should build quickly to about −0.7…−0.9 bar ✅.

When it fails
