Why it’s needed

Inline-4 engines create secondary shaking at mid to high rpm. The balance shaft assembly counters those forces, so the crank, bearings, and accessories live longer. Result: quieter idle, cleaner acceleration, and less stress on the drivetrain.

How it works ⚙️

Two counter-rotating shafts spin at twice crank speed, driven by the timing chain/gear. Their weights are phased to the crank, canceling vertical and fore-aft forces. The unit runs in engine oil, with tight bearings and seals for long life and low drag.

If it breaks or wears

Expect strong vibration at 1,800–3,000 rpm, rattles, humming, and shaking at idle. Oil leaks or metal glitter in oil may appear. Prolonged use can damage engine mounts, timing components, and main bearings; the knock sensor may trigger a fault. Stop and inspect.

Tech tips

• Align timing marks exactly; pre-lube the unit.
• Use correct oil grade and new seals/bolts.
