This engine pulley is a key part of the front drive system. It is needed to transfer rotation from the crankshaft to the accessory belt, helping run the alternator, A/C compressor, and power steering (if fitted). A healthy pulley keeps belt speed stable and reduces vibration for smoother engine operation.

How It Works ⚙️

The pulley mounts to the crankshaft nose and spins with the engine. The belt rides on its grooves and carries power to other pulleys. Many designs also help damp small torsional vibrations, protecting bearings and belt-driven components from shock loads.

What Happens If It Fails ?

A worn or damaged pulley can cause belt squeal, belt tracking issues, wobble, or sudden belt loss. If the belt slips or snaps, the alternator may stop charging, the A/C can quit, and steering assistance may drop. Continued driving can overheat the engine, damage the belt, or wear out nearby seals and bearings.
