Steering Column Light & Turn Signal Switch โ
This steering column switch controls your headlights, high/low beam, turn indicators, and often the lane-change flash. Itโs needed every time you drive because it lets you signal safely and keep proper road lighting in all conditions ?.
How It Works โ๏ธ
Inside the switch body are precision contacts and a sliding/cam mechanism. When you rotate or push the lever, the contacts route power to the correct lighting circuits. The turn function also works with the flasher relay so the indicators blink at the correct rate, while the headlight positions feed parking lights, low beam, or high beam.
What Happens If Itโs Broken ?
A worn or failed unit can cause intermittent headlights, turn signals that donโt cancel, high beams stuck on/off, or indicators that work only when you hold the lever. In worse cases, heat-damaged contacts may create flickering lights or a burning smell. Driving with faulty signaling or lighting increases accident risk and can lead to traffic violations.
