Light & Turn Signal Column Switch ??
This control switch is needed to safely operate your headlights, indicators, and often the high/low beam function from the steering column. It keeps your hands on the wheel while giving clear signals to other drivers—critical for road safety and legal compliance.
How It Works ⚙️
Inside the housing, precision copper contacts and a spring-loaded lever route power to the correct lighting circuits. When you move the stalk, the switch sends current to the left/right indicator lines or to the headlamp circuit. Many designs also include a momentary contact for flash-to-pass, plus a detent feel so each position stays stable.
When the Switch Fails ❗
A worn or broken unit can cause intermittent lights, indicators that won’t cancel, high beam that won’t engage, or total loss of turn signals. That can lead to unsafe lane changes, failed inspections, blown fuses from shorted contacts, or melted connectors from heat buildup.
Common Warning Signs ?
- Turn signal works only when holding the lever
- Headlights flicker or cut out over bumps
- Burnt smell near the column or hot switch body
