Crankshaft Position Sensor OEM MR985119 for Mitsubishi

Why this part is needed

The crankshaft position sensor feeds the ECU with exact crank angle and speed. With this signal, the engine times spark and fuel injection, enables quick starts, clean idle, strong pull, and low emissions. It is a critical reference for misfire control and knock strategy.

How it works

This sensor reads a toothed wheel on the crank. As teeth pass the tip, it generates a clean digital pulse. The ECU counts pulses and missing teeth to know cylinder phase. Stable signal = precise timing. Proper air gap, clean connector, and tight mount keep it accurate βš™οΈ.

What happens if it fails

No signal means no start. Weak or noisy signal causes long crank, sudden stall, rough idle, poor fuel economy, limp mode, and check engine lights (often P0335–P0339). Heat, oil ingress, or damaged wiring are common causes. Replace promptly to protect the catalytic converter and starter.

Tech tips

Mount near crank pulley or bellhousing. Set the specified gap, route the harness away from ignition coils, clear DTCs, and perform ECU relearn if required .
