Engine Crankshaft Position Sensor ⚙️
This sensor is a key input for the ECU to run the engine smoothly. It “reads” crankshaft rotation and sends a timing signal so fuel injection and ignition happen at the right moment. Without a clean crank signal, the engine cannot keep correct rhythm, especially during start-up and acceleration.
Why this part is needed ✅
Modern Mitsubishi engines rely on accurate crank angle data to control spark timing, injector pulse, and misfire detection. This small unit prevents guesswork and keeps the engine efficient, responsive, and easier to start.
How it works ?
Mounted near the crank pulley/flywheel area, it detects teeth/slots on a trigger wheel. As the crank turns, it generates a precise pulse pattern. The ECU uses these pulses to calculate RPM and crank position in real time.
What happens if it’s broken ?
- Hard starting or no-start condition
