Tailgate Latch Striker β€” Secure Closure for Rear Door

This tailgate striker is the fixed catch point that the rear door latch bites onto. It keeps the tailgate aligned, closed, and quiet, protecting cargo and cabin from dust, water, and exhaust. Designed for robust SUV/van use, it stabilizes the hatch under vibration and body flex, preventing rattles and accidental openings during driving.

How It Works ️

The striker is a hardened steel post/loop bolted to the body. When you shut the tailgate, the latch jaw on the door clamps the striker. Its tapered face guides the latch for smooth centering, while the plated surface reduces friction and wear. Shims allow fine adjustment so the door closes flush and seals evenly.

Why You Need It

Healthy closure improves safety, protects the lock mechanism, and preserves weather seals. A precise striker reduces slam force, extending latch life and preventing panel misalignment.

When It’s Worn or Broken ⚠️

Expect hard closing, bounce-back, warning light for open door, squeaks, water leaks, dust ingress, uneven gaps, and fast latch wear. A bent, corroded, or flattened striker should be replaced. Installation tips: mark old position, reuse/adjust shims, tighten bolts to spec, add threadlocker, and lightly lubricate the latch (not the striker).
