Crankshaft Position Sensor for Accurate Engine Timing βš™οΈ

This sensor is a key input for the engine control unit. It is needed to detect the exact crankshaft speed and position, so the ignition spark and fuel injection happen at the right moment. Without a clean signal, modern engines cannot run smoothly, and some will not start at all.

How It Works ?

The sensor reads a trigger wheel on the crankshaft. As teeth pass the sensor tip, it creates a pulse signal. The ECU counts these pulses to calculate RPM and crank angle, then adjusts spark timing, injector firing, and misfire detection in real time.

When It’s Failing or Broken ❗

A weak or damaged sensor can cause hard starting, random stalling, rough idle, loss of power, poor fuel economy, and a check engine light. If it fails completely, the ECU loses engine speed reference, which may lead to no-start, sudden shut-off, or misfire codes and limp mode.

Why Replace It Early βœ…

Replacing a drifting crank signal source restores stable timing, protects the catalytic converter from raw-fuel misfires, and brings back smooth acceleration and reliable starts.
