Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement for Mazda Engines

This precision engine sensor tells the ECU exactly where the crank is and how fast it spins. With a clean signal, the computer controls spark timing and fuel injection down to the millisecond for smooth starts, crisp throttle, and strong economy.

Why it’s needed βš™οΈ

Without a correct crank signal, the ECU can’t sync ignition and injection. The result is poor performance, random stalls, and in many cases a no-start. Keeping this sensor healthy protects the catalytic converter and reduces fuel waste.

How it works

A magnetic/Hall element reads a toothed reluctor on the crank. As teeth pass, the sensor outputs pulses. The ECU converts these pulses into RPM and crank angle, aligning spark and fuel with top dead center.

What happens when it fails

  • Hard start or no start
  • Intermittent stalling and misfire
  • Check Engine Light (e.g., P0335–P0339)
  • Rough idle, poor fuel economy, limp mode

Tech notes

Mount near the crank pulley or bellhousing. Inspect connector pins, keep harness away from heat, and maintain correct air gap. After install, clear codes and perform idle relearn for stable operation.
