Front Left ABS Wheel Speed Sensor
This front-left wheel speed pickup is a key safety part that feeds real-time wheel rotation data to the ABS/ESC computer ️. It is needed to stop wheel lock-up during hard braking and to keep the vehicle stable on wet roads, gravel, or emergency stops.
How It Works
The sensor reads a toothed ring/encoder on the hub or CV area and creates an electrical pulse signal. The control unit compares all four wheels; if one slows too fast, it commands the ABS modulator to reduce brake pressure for a split second, then re-apply it—fast and smooth.
When It’s Failing or Broken
If the sensor is damaged, dirty, or the wiring is open/shorted, you may get ABS and traction lights, no ABS function, and longer stopping distance on slippery surfaces ⚠️. Some models can also show speedometer glitches or harsh braking feel because the system can’t trust the wheel signal.
