Crankshaft Position Sensor – OEM‑grade fit for Honda/Acura engines ⚙️

This sensor tracks the exact speed and position of the crankshaft. The engine control unit (ECU) uses this signal to fire spark, command fuel injection, and sync variable valve timing. Without a clean crank signal, modern engines cannot run right.

Why this part is needed

Precise timing = smooth power, easy starts, clean emissions, and good fuel economy. A fresh, correctly reading sensor restores cold start quality, stops random stalls, and protects the catalytic converter by preventing misfire fuel wash.

How it works

Mounted near a toothed reluctor on the crank, the sensor (Hall or magnetic) detects each tooth passing. It creates a fast square‑wave pulse train. The ECU counts pulses for RPM and reads the missing‑tooth index to know crank angle, then aligns injectors and coils in milliseconds.

What happens if it’s faulty

Hard start or no start, sudden stall at idle, erratic tachometer, misfire under load, poor MPG, and a Check Engine light (often P0335/P0336). If it fails completely, the engine cranks but never fires. Long term driving with a weak signal can damage the catalyst and trigger limp mode.

Tech notes

Inspect the connector for oil wicking, keep the sensor tip free of metal filings, set the air gap per spec, and torque the mounting bolt correctly. Always clear codes and perform a crank relearn if the ECU requires it.
