OEM Rain Detection Sensor for Infiniti/Nissan SUVs ️

Why this part is needed

This compact module automates your windshield wipers, switching them on and changing speed when rain hits the glass. It improves visibility, reduces driver fatigue in traffic, and protects the wiper motor by avoiding dry wipes. A healthy sensor keeps your automatic wiper and light systems responsive and safe in bad weather.

How it works

The unit sits behind the interior mirror and uses an infrared LED and receiver through a clear gel pad. When the windshield is dry, light reflects back strongly. Rain drops scatter the beam; the sensor sends a signal via the network to the BCM, which adjusts wiper intervals and, on some trims, headlamps. Proper glass contact and clean gel are key.

What happens if it fails

Auto wipers stop working or run erratically, wipers may stay on high, or the auto position is dead. You may see warning messages, poor wipe timing, or noisy chatter. In heavy rain this can mean delayed wiping and reduced visibility. A damaged gel pad, cracked lens, or water intrusion are common causes.

Tech tips

Use OEM-grade gel pad, align to the marked area on the windshield, avoid fingerprints. After install, clear fault codes and perform sensor calibration if the service manual requires it. Plug-and-play connector, no wire cutting .
