PTJ Inner CV Boot Kit — Purpose 🛠️

This kit protects the inner driveshaft joint on the transmission side. It seals high‑moly grease, keeps out water and grit, and lets the axle plunge and angle smoothly. A fresh boot prevents vibration, shudder, and costly joint wear, keeping your Subaru driving quiet and tight.

How It Works ⚙️

Inside the tulip housing sits a plunging tripod joint (PTJ). As the suspension moves, rollers slide in tracks to transmit torque while changing length. The flexible rubber bellows maintains lubricant pressure and blocks contaminants. Stainless clamps lock the boot to the shaft and cup, and the supplied grease restores factory lubrication for long service life.

When the Boot Fails ❗

A tear or loose clamp flings grease, then dirt enters. Expect rumble on acceleration, clicking on turns, harsh vibration under load, burnt‑grease smell, and rapid tripod roller and track scoring. Continued driving risks joint seizure and axle failure. Replacing the boot early saves the CV joint and gearbox seals.

Install Notes 🧰

Clean the joint, inspect rollers, pack fresh grease (do not overfill), align bellows without twist, and crimp both clamps evenly. Verify full steering and suspension travel with no boot stretch or contact.
