ECT sensor for Nissan engines β precise coolant heat reading οΈ
This compact temperature sender sits in the coolant passage and reports live engine heat to the ECU. With accurate data, your Nissan manages cold starts, fuel mix, ignition timing, and radiator fan speed for smooth, efficient driving .
Why this part is needed
Correct temperature input keeps idle stable, economy strong, and emissions clean. It prevents overheating and protects costly parts like the head gasket and catalytic converter. A healthy sensor means predictable power and reliable starts in any weather.
How it works
Inside is an NTC thermistor: as coolant warms, resistance drops. The ECU sends a 5V reference and reads the return voltage to know actual coolant temperature. A sealed brass body and two-pin plug ensure fast, steady readings and long life.
What happens if itβs faulty β οΈ
Expect hard cold starts, rich mixture, rough idle, high fuel use, or weak power. The fan may run nonstop or not engage, risking overheating. Check Engine Light and codes like P0115βP0119 can appear. Prolonged failure can damage the engine.
Install tips β
Work on a cool engine, depressurize the system, and catch spilled coolant. Lightly oil the seal, tighten to spec, reconnect the plug, then bleed air and verify readings with a scan tool.
