This ignition component is a small part with a big job: it creates the spark that lights the air-fuel mix inside the cylinder. Without a clean, strong spark, your Subaru cannot burn fuel efficiently, so power, fuel economy, and smooth idle all suffer.
Why this part is needed ?
Modern turbo and high-compression Subaru engines need precise ignition to prevent misfires and keep combustion stable. A fresh plug helps the ECU maintain proper timing and reduces unburnt fuel in the exhaust.
How it works ?️
High voltage from the ignition coil jumps across the plug gap, forming an electric arc. That arc ignites the mixture at exactly the right moment. The insulator and electrode design also helps manage heat so the tip stays clean and resists fouling.
What happens if it’s worn or damaged ❗
A failing plug can cause rough idle, hesitation under boost, slow starts, higher fuel use, and a flashing check engine light. Continued misfires may overheat the catalytic converter and strain ignition coils.
