Engine Control Oxygen Sensor (Upstream) ?
This sensor is a key feedback part for the fuel injection system. It is needed to measure oxygen level in the exhaust stream so the ECU can correct the air/fuel mix in real time. When the mixture is right, the engine runs smoother, saves fuel, and keeps emissions low ✅.
How It Works ⚙️
The sensor sits in the exhaust before the main catalyst and generates a signal based on oxygen content. The ECU reads this signal, then adjusts injector pulse and short/long fuel trims. During warm operation it constantly switches rich/lean, helping the catalyst work at peak efficiency.
What Happens If It Fails ?
A weak or dead sensor can send slow or incorrect readings. Common results include check engine light, rough idle, hesitation, poor mileage, fuel smell, higher emissions, and catalyst damage over time. Ignoring it may also cause hard starting and unstable power under load.
Why Replace On Time ?️
Fresh feedback keeps the ECU “in control,” prevents over-fueling, and protects the catalytic converter—often the most expensive exhaust component.
