Engine O2 Sensor for Mitsubishi
This OEM-grade oxygen (lambda) sensor feeds real-time exhaust data to the ECU, keeping fuel trim precise for smooth power, clean emissions, and strong MPG. It is designed to plug in cleanly and deliver fast, stable readings in daily use.
Why you need it โ
Without accurate O2 feedback, the engine runs rich or lean. Correct data protects the catalytic converter, reduces fuel waste, and prevents a check engine light during inspections.
How it works โ๏ธ
A zirconia cell compares oxygen in exhaust vs. outside air and generates a voltage the ECU reads. An internal heater brings it to operating temp quickly, enabling closed-loop control within seconds after start.
When it fails and what happens โ
Signs: rough idle, weak throttle, high fuel use, sulfur smell, black smoke, failed emissions, and codes like P0130โP0135. Long-term rich running can overheat and melt the catalystโan expensive repair.
Tech notes ๏ธ
Install in the upstream bung (M18ร1.5). Do not touch the tip. Use nickel anti-seize on threads only and torque to spec. After fitting, clear trims and check for exhaust leaks or wiring damage.
